“You must not divert your attention from the smallest detail; nothing exists without reason or has been uselessly created.” Manilius, Astronomica, Book II, line 234 (ca 10 CE)
Astrology is a science and an art of connection. The stars and planets seem to hold waves of energy that make connections with people, events and cycles of humanity. No one knows for sure. But after serious study for thousands of years, we know it works.
Astrology cannot be separated from believing in a designed universe. If you believe there are patterns and cycles that can be identified through astrology, you believe in purpose. This can lead to faith in even the most difficult circumstances.
In an individual’s natal birth chart or the current transit chart playing on the person’s natal birth chart we can see themes and activities that will hold more of a charge for the person. We can see when you are more likely to pursue education, partnership, travel, etc. It holds true for the world at large. In the astrology chart of countries, we can see when the cycle of growth, war, hardship, natural disasters are more likely. This tells us that the nature of the world is to have difficulty and ease, to put it very broadly.
The trans-personal planets have a larger impact. These planets are outside of the Sun/earth orbit. The personal planets, the Moon, Venus and Mercury orbit in between the Sun and the Earth. Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto are beyond the Sun. This means they stay in houses by transit much longer and have a deeper impact on our psyches and our lives.
This is not to say that man is dominated by nature or should feel burdened or overwhelmed by nature. Ours is to learn to dance within the structure nature provides. Dominion is not over nature, but over our own nature. Astrology is an art of living that gives us the tools to do just this. By using astrology, you learn a language that can help you understand how nature is constructed and your place within it. You can begin to understand the forces within you that attract the same energy you face in the world. As you bring to consciousness these forces you can transform them.
The natal chart is your game plan for this lifetime. This suggests that you exist before you are born and will exist after. It suggests we are each on a progression. Taking this as a base line is necessary to understand the framework.
There are multiple zodiac systems. Each has value and is accurate. In the Western tropical zodiac, we get a good idea of the person’s psychology and the inherent tendencies. In the Eastern sidereal zodiac, we see the more practical aspects of living like money, career, family, health, relations etc. Of course, there are overlaps between the two because I don’t think they are separate systems. I think that the Eastern zodiac that is behind the Western zodiac by approximately 23 degrees is where the person is coming from. The seeds of previous life’s experiences. The Western zodiac is where the person is moving toward integration and growth in this lifetime.
Then in Western astrology there is the progressed zodiac. This is where the planets are moving through signs as you age. The moon is important as it progresses though signs every 2.5 years indicating emotional cycles of development.
The benefit to astrology is helping to empower people to use energy and cycles consciously. If I see a difficult time coming up for a person’s physical health, I will recommend dieting and exercise, getting enough sleep. You can choose not to, but then you suffer the consequences of that choice. Ultimately illness teaches us so many lessons. We may not be able to avoid it but if we relax and ask what it is teaching us, we can have a much better experience of the time. This requires faith in life. If we find ourselves ill, in war, crime, success, wealth, poverty all of it is simply an energy that needs to be understood and managed. Through prayer, study and faith we learn to accept the nature of this crazy, brutal, beautiful world.
Some people’s karma (or pattern) is physical, others mental, emotional or spiritual or a mix. As we contemplate our own natal charts, we can begin to see the patterns that have governed our lives. We can go back and see the lessons, and the successes. Then we can duplicate that success or avoid that lesson recognizing where maybe we should try something else.
There are no bad things in astrology. It is up to us how we use it. Everything is designed by God but also by us. In my experience everything is orchestrated for our own best expression. Everything can be pivoted to a balanced, natural, creative expression.
Inevitably people say, what about babies with cancer, what about war!? What about all the bad things in life. Bad is a subjective term. The Bhagavad Gita, (the Hindu Bible) starts with Arjuna, the hero on the battlefield telling God he does not want to fight. He does not want to kill his cousins and uncles. God tells him, you find yourself as a ruler of a kingdom, on a battlefield, you must fight, you must kill. He goes on to say there is no death. This is all a play of consciousness. While this is a difficult concept to accept, I believe this to be true. Mostly because I have had the ability to talk to people on the other side and have had powerful dreams and other psychic phenomenon all my life. It is a bit easier when you have the direct experience of these things. Anyone can develop the 6th sense functions with attention. Just some of us came pre-wired.
Contemplate this, if we reincarnate, if our astrology is an expression of the summation of lived previous experience, then you have choice, and agency to work with your own patterns of destiny. You may not be able to avoid war, cancer, crime, abundance, love or joy to name just a few of the myriad life experiences, but there is something to those experiences. How differently will you handle a situation when you pivot it to balancing energy and calling on the celestial helpers. Now you are co-creating.
In our own Judeo-Christian tradition, we have the famous book of Job. God tells Job after all his trials, you do not have the mind of God, you don’t need to understand why you have suffered. You must have faith. We must develop faith in existence. We must cultivate faith in this world.
Astrological counseling is a beautiful way to learn to gain this understanding. To recognize your patterns, to see what you have been doing and explore different expressions of the energetic designs inherent in your natal chart. Ultimately it is up to you to use what you are given wisely. We can see when education or career or marriage, to name a few, are turned on, but you must take the initiative to make these things happen. You are the hero/ine of this life and all the angels are on hand to help you become your best creative expression.
To learn to work with the angels and your astrological patterns consider entering my angelic astrology coaching program. Here you will learn your personal cycles, signatures and, most importantly, angelic remedies and attunements to help accelerate your spiritual growth and put you on a path of creative manifestation. After all, in the image of God, we are all creators. Our job is to learn how to become that. One does that by learning to balance the rhythms and building blocks of nature that we are given in the astrological system.
