In astrology there are twelve houses around the astrology chart connected to the constellations in the sky. These houses represent different areas of life. Everything in life can be categorized into the twelve houses.
Astrology is the study of the quality of light that interplays between the Sun and other planets and the angles they create mathematically as well as the house and planetary placements within the zodiac belt calculated by the longitude and latitude of where you were born.
Of the twelve houses there are four foundational houses. They are the four pillars of your life. Understanding their condition is a golden key to understanding your karma.
The first house is your body, your health, your self-esteem. Without this it is hard to succeed. The fourth house is your home, family and what is dearest to your heart. When this is afflicted, it is much harder to feel safe in life and to get a good start. The seventh house is your significant other and how you are in relationships. The tenth house is your relationship to the world, and how the world sees you. It is frequently our work in the world, not necessarily a job or career.
When planets are placed in the first, fourth, seventh or tenth houses they are more powerful. These houses are linked to the four cardinal directions.
The first house provides a clear picture of our health and self-esteem. We study the planet that rules the first house known as the depositor and we study the Sun, the planet signifying our physical body. These planets and their associations hold the key to understanding our risks or benefits accrued in relation to our identity and health. The house the chart ruler is placed in becomes very important. Any planet in the first house takes on much more significance because we connect it to our identity. Since it is the first house it shows us our beginnings in this life.
To understand what kind of home we grew up in, how we were nurtured, what is rooted in our hearts, where we find calm and peace we study the fourth house, its ruler, where it is placed and the moon. The moon is how we nurture and receive nurturing along with Venus. What sign and modalities are the moon placed in? What planet rules the fourth house and where is this placed? What planets are around the moon? All these factors will tell us what we need emotionally and how we were cared for.
It is so important to understand our emotional selves, our deepest heart’s needs. If these indicators are afflicted, we know where we need to build compensation and what kind of compensation. If these indicators are beneficial then we know we are blessed and having a feeling of safety and nurturance in this world.
Frequently for couples the Moon or Venus is in the other person’s first or seventh house creating the connection. Or they are in the same sign. The Moon, Venus and the other aspects to these 2 planets give clear information about your real “love language”.
The seventh house shows how we are in relationships. It is a literal picture of our significant other, or lack of one. It tells the tale of our relationships. The ruler of the seventh house and Venus will tell your story. What modality, what sign rules this house? How is Venus deposited. Is it fiery in relationships, or emotional? Is it practical or intellectual? Understanding how we relate to others is very important to understanding our strengths and weaknesses in relating. Clearly our ability to succeed in life is linked to our ability to relate to the world. The seventh house represents how we engage with the rest of humanity. It is seen as a house of commerce because it is how we engage in relationships in our community.
The tenth house is where we shine. We all need to express our spark of divinity. The tenth house is at the top of the astrology chart representing the Sun at noon time position. This is when the Sun is at its brightest and strongest. Therefore, it represents how we shine our God spark represented by the Sun as our soul in the world.
We look at the Sun, the ruler of the tenth house and how each is impacted by sign (psychology), planetary aspects, and placement in another house. If Libra is on your tenth house, where is Venus? Is there another planet in this important house and who is it? What houses does it own, what energy has it brought into this important house? Our ability to know how to shine is studied here.
We track cycles and transits to know when these important areas of life are activated. Meditation, discussion, and study of these foundational houses help us navigate more effectively. “Know thy self” is the benefit to astrological counseling and consulting. It holds the key to understanding your soul’s blueprint and the timing of events in your life.

Yoga classes are joyfully back in motion. I feel at home again. It is no mistake my Sun is in the 4th house indicating a home-based business. People with their Sun placed at the midnight position of the astrology chart like to be at home. This is where their Sun shines brightly across onto the tenth house.
In classes we are discussing the current astrological aspects while stretching and opening our physical vessels. We are doing meditations to open and clear the energy channels and chakras. This morning, we did a powerful meditation with Archangel Camael and Ariel to illuminate the Sun and Moon within us, balancing the right and left hemispheres of the brain, balancing the masculine and feminine and uniting them into one at the 4th eye. It was blissful.
