Why Your Dreams Matter — A Tea to Help Remember Them & A New Offering

I’ve worked with my dreams my entire life. Not casually — but as a relationship. A guidance system. A place where I receive instruction, clarity, and direction that has shaped my career, my spiritual path, and some of the biggest decisions I’ve ever made.
My dream life has always been prolific. Some nights it feels like I live a second life — full storylines, symbolic teachings, and conversations with figures who feel wiser than anything my waking mind could produce. That energy permeates the days that follows as I work with and integrate the messages.
Dreams have told me what direction to take in my work. Dreams have told me when to pivot. Dreams have told me who to study with, what systems to learn, and even which spiritual lineage to follow. And yes, I had a Jungian analyst through my 30's for 9 years.
I had a dream that told me to become an astrologer — and not just that, but to study both Eastern and Western astrology. I had a dream that told me to become a yoga teacher. I even had a dream that revealed my Ishta Devata, the personal aspect of the Divine I was meant to work with.
So, when I talk about dreams, I’m not speaking theoretically. I’m speaking from lived experience — decades of it.
And yet, so many of my clients tell me:
“I don’t remember my dreams.”
They say it like it’s a fixed trait — like some people are “dreamers” and some aren’t. But that’s not true. Everyone dreams. Everyone receives symbolic information. Everyone has an inner guidance system.
The difference is simply whether you’re able to remember it.
And that’s where ritual, intention, and certain herbs — like the ones in the recipe to follow called Lucid Dream Tea — make all the difference.
Why Dreams Are Worth Paying Attention To
Dreams are one of the most honest forms of communication your psyche has. They don’t hide. They don’t perform. They show you what’s happening beneath the surface — emotionally, spiritually, psychologically.
Dreams can:
help you process emotions you didn’t finish during the day
reveal patterns you’re ready to break
offer symbolic guidance about relationships or decisions
spark creativity and intuition
regulate your nervous system while you sleep
And this isn’t just spiritual language — it’s historical fact.
Some of the greatest scientific breakthroughs came from dreams:
Dmitri Mendeleev dreamed the entire periodic table.
Otto Loewi, a medical doctor, dreamed the experiment that proved chemical nerve transmission — winning him the Nobel Prize.
Kekulé dreamed of a snake biting its tail, revealing the ring structure of benzene.
Einstein often said dream imagery inspired his theory of relativity.
Niels Bohr saw the structure of the atom in a dream-like vision.
Paul McCartney heard “Yesterday” in a dream.
Dreams solve problems. Dreams reveal answers. Dreams offer breakthroughs. In the Bible G-d speaks to people in dreams.
Your psyche is always working on your behalf — even while you sleep. It is the portal to the other side, that part of you that is larger, remembers, and is guiding you.
Why So Many People Don’t Remember Their Dreams
Most people aren’t disconnected from dreaming — they’re disconnected from recall. Science tells us that everyone dreams every night. If you didn't you would become psychologically unbalanced.
Common reasons you may not remember include:
stress or nervous-system activation
too much screen time before bed
waking up too quickly
not signaling to the psyche that dreams matter
no ritual or intention before sleep
or you simply haven't valued dreamwork
None of these are permanent. They’re simply habits that can be shifted.
How Lucid Dream Tea Helps
Included below is a Lucid Dream Tea blend I designed to support dream recall and dream vividness. Herbs like mugwort, blue lotus, and gotu kola have been used for centuries to open the dream-body and deepen symbolic awareness. Chamomile and rose soften the nervous system so the psyche can speak more clearly.
And because I drink herbal teas every day, I buy my herbs in bulk — usually on Amazon or Etsy. It’s the most economical way to do it, especially when you’re making blends regularly.
Then I use my beloved T3 tea strainer — the kind where you throw everything into the cup that has a lid, let them steep, and then set the strainer on top of your cup so it drains beautifully into it. My sweet friend Kathleen found it for me at Goodwill one day, and it’s become one of my favorite little tools in my daily ritual.
But the tea isn’t magic on its own.
It becomes powerful when paired with intention.
When you drink it and say — even silently — “I will remember my dreams,” you’re activating the part of your mind that tracks experience.
The herbs open the door. Your intention invites the message in.
The Most Important Part: Recording Your Dreams Immediately
This is the step most people skip — and it’s the reason they think they “don’t dream.”
You have to record your dreams immediately upon waking.
Dream memory dissolves within seconds. Not minutes — seconds.
I instruct clients to:
keep their phone right next to the bed
wake up and record the dream into the voice memo app
not turn on lights or start thinking
just record it and go right back to sleep
Because dreams often come at 3 a.m., in that liminal window when the psyche is most open.
If you begin recording your dreams consistently — even messy, half-asleep recordings — your dream recall will strengthen dramatically. You will become a prolific dreamer. Your psyche will realize you’re paying attention, and it will start giving you more.
Dreams respond to being worked with.
You Can Even Direct Your Dreams
Once you build a relationship with your dream-life, you can:
ask your dreams to solve a problem
ask for clarification on something confusing
ask for guidance
ask for healing
ask for next steps
Your dreams will respond.
I’ve done this for years — and the clarity that comes through is often more precise than anything I could consciously think my way into.
Why It’s Hard to Interpret Your Own Dreams
But heres the thing,
Your psyche uses dreams to make you aware of your blindspots.
And by definition, a blindspot is something you cannot see clearly.
So, interpreting your own dreams can be challenging — not because you’re doing anything wrong, but because the dream is often pointing to something outside your conscious awareness. Or even something you don't want to be aware of. Our ego is a master of avoidance.
This is why dreamwork is so powerful — and why guidance can be so helpful.
The other necessity in dreamwork is the work. This means re-reading dreams, and taking steps to bring them into waking reality. I have dreams I have worked with for over 20 years. They are the sign posts that guide my path.
The Four Classes of Dreams
Most dreams fall into one of four categories:
1. Compensation Dreams
These balance your psychological state.
If you’re depressed, the psyche may offer uplifting imagery.
If you’re inflated or overconfident, the psyche may ground you.
Dreams always seek equilibrium.
2. Psychic Snapshot Dreams
These show you exactly what psychological process you’re in right now.
These are the dreams people have during major life transitions — endings, beginnings, identity shifts, spiritual openings. Tracking your dreams also follows your major astrological cycles uncannily.
3. Precognitive Dreams
These are rarer, but they happen.
They offer glimpses of future events or future emotional states. Many scientists, artists, and mystics have documented them.
4. Hope/Fear Dreams
These express your deepest desires or anxieties.
They’re not predictions — they’re emotional truths. These are dreams where you are worrying too much or desiring strongly. Your psyche is trying to work out the balance and path forward with you.
Understanding which category a dream belongs to is the first step in interpreting it.
If You Want to Start Remembering Your Dreams
Here’s the simplest protocol:
Drink the Lucid Dream Tea 30–45 minutes before bed.
Set a clear intention: “I will remember my dreams.”
Keep your phone beside your bed.
When you wake up — even at 3 a.m. — record the dream immediately.
Go back to sleep.
Transcribe it later.
Watch recall strengthen week by week.
Dreams are not random. They are messages. They are maps. They are invitations.
And when you begin remembering them, your inner world may become a place you can navigate — not just visit.
If you get yourself up and running with recall, start collecting your dreams in a journal or on a note app on your phone, you can join a Dream Circle I will begin holding every month when I return from India.

Laura’s Lucid Dream Tea: “The Silver Thread Blend”
THE BLEND (Loose‑Leaf Formula)
Decaf Earl Grey — 1 tbsp Gives you the familiar ritual anchor without caffeine.
Mugwort — 1 tsp The primary lucid‑dream herb. Enhances clarity, recall, and dream “edges.”
Blue lotus — ½ tsp Opens the emotional and symbolic layers; softens mugwort’s sharpness.
Gotu kola — ½ tsp An herb used in yogic traditions to increase subtle awareness.
Chamomile — ½ tsp Keeps the blend gentle so the mind stays calm enough to enter lucidity.
Rose petals — ½ tsp Stabilizes the emotional tone of dreams; prevents intensity spikes.
Fennel seed — 2–3 seeds Grounds the body so the mind can roam.
WHY THIS BLEND INDUCES LUCIDITY
1. Mugwort = the lucid spark
It increases dream vividness, structure, and recall — the core of lucidity.
2. Gotu kola = awareness without wakefulness
It keeps a thin thread of consciousness alive as you fall asleep.
3. Blue lotus = emotional and symbolic depth
It opens the dream‑body so lucidity feels natural, not forced.
4. Rose + chamomile = emotional safety
Lucid dreams can get intense; these keep the tone gentle and mythic.
5. Decaf Earl Grey = ritual continuity
Your system recognizes the bergamot signature as “tea time,” which helps the descent.
HOW TO BREW IT
1 teaspoon of the blend
8 oz water at 200°F
Steep 5 minutes
Add:
A splash of warm milk
Optional: a drop of honey
Optional: a micro‑drop of vanilla extract
Drink it 30–45 minutes before bed, ideally after screens are off and the room is dim.
Lucidity Activation (Optional)
Right before sleep, lie down and silently repeat:
“I will know that I am dreaming.”
This primes the mind to recognize the dream state.
Take care as we transition into fall! Laura
